Teaching

The courses offered by l'École de langue française et de culture québécoise de l'Université du Québec à Chicoutimi are at a university level and are credited by the institution. Generally, a credit represents 15 hours of teaching. Certain courses are not necessarily offered for every semester. The list of courses offered varies, depending on the program or semester. Moreover, the student cannot choose his or her own courses alone. An oral and written placement test measures the student's level of linguistic competence which, in turn, determines which courses he or she may appropriately enrol in.

L'École de langue française et de culture québécoise offers programs varying between three and fifteen weeks long. All you have to do is check the program descriptions to find out the number of credits allotted to each one.

Take note that, as the course descriptions are very general, a student seeking equivalencies should keep the course plan handed out by his or her professor. The course plan clarifies specific communicative and linguistic objectives along with grammar, phonetic and lexical content as well as the evaluation methods and teaching strategies used.

The numbering of course abbreviations used by l'Université du Québec à Chicoutimi does not necessarily mean that a course is of the first, second, third or fourth-year level. Consequently, each university must determine its own equivalencies for our courses.
