Students who register for this 3-week immersion will take classes with students participating in the 5-week program. Each student will be placed in a class that corresponds the most to his level of fluency of French. Students will also take part in workshops and activities giving them more opportunities to speak the target language.
1 credited course (3 cr.) or non-credited course among courses offered.
Classroom attendance is mandatory.
Since learning doesn’t take place only in class, a host of exciting activities awaits you at the École de langue during these 3 weeks under the supervision of highly qualified and experienced instructors and monitors. An unforgettable life experience!
Linguistic and sociocultural activities are held at different periods during your stay. All participants will receive a complete schedule of activities in the first few days of the program.
Since 3-week students join 5-week students in class and activities, they will not be able to take part in activities that are offered during the 4th and 5th weeks.
Here are a few examples of activities to choose from:

We strongly encourage students to stay with a Francophone family. This direct contact maximizes the French learning process and exposure to Quebec culture.
Students also have the option of reserving a room in a residence on campus, however the number of places is limited.
Please note that we cannot provide you with the name and contact information of your host family in Chicoutimi before your arrival.
All meals are included during the 3-week program. A student staying with a host family shares on average 14 meals per week with the family. For the other meals, the École de langue gives students a meal card that includes 5 lunches and 2 dinners per week at the UQAC cafeteria.
Students living in residence on campus also receive a card for 5 lunches and 2 dinners per week at UQAC cafeteria. For the other meals, students must prepare their own or dine out. The École de langue gives students staying in residence a weekly allowance to cover meal costs.
All program participants will have access to public transit (STS). The École de langue will provide each student living with a host family who reside at more than 1,8 kilometer from the University with a free pass.
Students who wish to bring their car must purchase, at its own expense, a parking sticker at the reception of the University upon arrival.
At the start of the program, students sign a moral contract committing them to speak only French during the program.
Students breaching their contract could be expelled from the program.
If you are worried about your ability to adhere to this rule, please read this message from an ex-student at l’École de langue.
