Since learning doesn’t take place only in class, a host of exciting activities awaits you at the École de langue during these 5 weeks under the supervision of highly qualified and experienced instructors and monitors. An unforgettable life experience!
Linguistic and sociocultural activities are held at different periods during your stay. All participants will receive a complete schedule of activities in the first few days of the program.
Attendance at activities are mandatory.
Here are a few examples of activities to choose from:
Please note that participants will have the chance of buying tickets for weekend excursions. Tickets are limited!
We strongly encourage students to stay with a Francophone family. This direct contact maximizes the French learning process and exposure to Quebec culture.
Please note that in order to make the most of your French immersion, the Explore program offers two types of accommodation: homestay accommodation or residence accommodation on the university campus. If you choose another type of accommodation, Explore does not have to pay for it.
Students also have the option of reserving a room in a residence on campus, however the number of places is limited.
For any information regarding your accommodation, please contact the lodging coordinator.
All meals are included during the 5-week program. A student staying with a host family shares on average 14 meals per week with the family. For the other meals, the École de langue française gives students a meal card that includes 31 meals (24 lunches and 7 dinners). These meals will be served at the UQAC cafeteria.
Students living in residence-apartment on campus also receive a meal card that includes 31 meals (24 lunches and 7 dinners). These meals will be served at the UQAC cafeteria. For the other meals, each student will receive a weekly grocery store gift card in the amount of $80, which may be spent at a grocery store (located at 15 minutes walking distance from UQAC).
Please note that dishes and cookware are not provided in the apartment’s kitchen. In exchange for a deposit ($10), the cafeteria will lend you one large and one small plate, a bowl, a mug, a glass and eating utensils.
All program participants will have access to public transit (STS). I pass will be given them the first day of school. It’s included in the tuition fees. ** For uncredited students, transport costs are not included in the price. A fee of $ 40 to purchase a bus pass.
Please note that parking is free for the summer term (from April 30 until the start of the fall 2022 session).
If you have chosen to stay in a residence-apartment, our host coorodinator will notify you by email of the procedure.
If you’ve chosen to live in a host family, it is your responsibility to make an agreement with them about the time and the place you’ll meet on Monday.
Students arriving outside official welcoming day will be responsible for finding their own accommodation. For more information about housing, visit our website: http://elf.uqac.ca/english/hotels/

At the start of the program, students sign a moral contract committing them to speak only French during the program.
Students breaching their contract could be expelled from the program.
If you are worried about your ability to adhere to this rule, please read this message from an ex-student at l’École de langue.
